Kurtz Picks Up Stats Perform All-America Status

| By:

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell football junior tight end Ryder Kurtz earned his third All-America honor in as many days when Stats Perform announced its All-America Teams Wednesday afternoon. Kurtz, one of seven Ivy League players selected, earned a spot on the third team.

Kurtz, a second team All-Ivy selection, hauled in 44 receptions for 523 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games, averaging 11.9 yards per catch and 52.3 yards per game, the most among Ivy League tight ends. His four touchdown receptions ranked ninth in the conference and included scoring catches against UAlbany, Yale, Bucknell and Princeton. Kurtz also recorded a season-high nine receptions at Dartmouth. His receptions and receiving yards are single-season records for a Big Red tight end.

The junior became the first Cornell tight end to lead the team in both receptions and receiving yards since Dan Suren (26 receptions, 287 yards) in 1982. Kurtz is now the program's all-time leader in touchdowns and receiving yards by a tight end.

Earlier this week, Kurtz was named an FCS Football Central All-America Third Team and AP All-America Honorable Mention.
