Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell men's tennis defeated Delaware 4-0 on Friday night to win its first round match of the ECAC Indoor Championships in Philadelphia, PA.
The Big Red began doubles play with Adit Sinha and Jack McCarthy defeating James Sclater and Alexandre Gluck 6-2. Piotr Siekanowicz and Karol Malirz then defeated Nathan Mao and Radu Papoe 6-3 to tie the doubles play with one match left. In the final match of doubles play, Rushil Khosla and Eric Verdes defeated Tobey Lock and Euan Mackenzie 6-3 to earn Cornell the first point of the match.
With Cornell up 1-0, singles play began. Adit Sinha opened play by defeating Malirz 6-2, 6-0. Papoe then defeated Siekanowicz 6-1, 6-4 and Eric Verdes defeated Gluck 6-2, 6-1 to put the Big Red up 4-0. The other three singles matches went unfinished, so the Big Red won the match 4-0.
Winning this match, put the Big Red into the winners bracket of the tournament where it will next face Princeton on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 6:00 p.m. in hopes to make it to the championship game.
