ITHACA, N.Y. — Sophomores
Xin Ying Yee and
Maya Voloshin posted four-game victories for the No. 7-ranked Cornell women's squash team (6-7) as it dropped a 7-2 decision to No. 6-ranked Virginia (9-4) at the Belkin Squash Courts in its regular season finale on Saturday afternoon.
Yee responded to dropping the first game, 11-2, to Meagan Best in the No. 1 match by posting three consecutive victories, 11-6, 11-1, 11-5, en route to her team-leading 11th victory of the season.
Voloshin prevailed in the No. 6 match, 11-6, 11-5, 8-11, 13-11, outlasting Maureen Foley in the fourth game to prevent any chances of a decisive fifth game.
Virginia posted a quartet of three-game victories on the day, which came in the No. 4, No. 5, No. 7, and No. 8 matches.
Senior
Ananya Dabke posted wins in the first two games over Maria Min in the No. 3 match, 12-10, 11-8, but the Min came back and posted three consecutive victories to win in five games, 11-2, 11-4, 11-6.
Junior
Aishwarya Khubchandani came back from a 2-0 deficit against Lina Tammam, 11-5, 11-8, with victories of 11-6, 11-5, but was forced to retire before the fifth game began.
Fellow junior
Devon Shatzman fell in four games at the No. 9 match to Claire Pellegrino, 10-12, 11-5, 11-5, 11-6, as the Cavaliers freshman improved her record in dual matches to a team-best 9-0.
