#7 Women's Squash Posts Resounding Senior Day Win Over #9 Columbia

ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 7-ranked Cornell women's squash team (6-6, 2-4 Ivy League) concluded conference action with a resounding 7-2 victory on Senior Day over No. 9-ranked Columbia (3-8, 1-5 Ivy League) at the Belkin Squash Courts on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Xin Ying Yee (No. 1), juniors Aishwarya Khubchandani (No. 2) and Alysa Ali (No. 4), and senior Ananya Dabke (No. 3) all registered straight-game victories in the top four matches. Sophomore Maya Voloshin (No. 6) also logged a win in three games.

Junior Devon Shatzman edged out Advita Sharma for a five-game victory at the No. 8 position, as each of the five games alternated winners. Also posting a victory for the Big Red was freshman Saniya Jaggi, who won after Eugenia Li retired following the conclusion of the third game.

Columbia's Kaavya Bansal (No. 5) and Sophia Hu (No. 9) both logged four-game victories over sophomore Christa Kay and senior Kacey Mollenkopf, respectively, to log the lone win on the day for the Lions, who have now lost their last five matches.

No. 9: Sophia Hu def. Kacey Mollenkopf, 11-4, 11-6, 9-11, 11-4.

UP NEXT
Cornell will conclude its regular-season slate next Saturday, Feb. 15, when it welcomes No. 6-ranked Virginia (8-3) to the Belkin Squash Courts. Match action is scheduled to begin at noon and all matches will be streamed for free on Stretch Internet.
