Men's Tennis Hosts St. John's On Saturday at Reis Tennis Center

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's tennis team will attempt to claim another top 100 win when it faces St. John's on Saturday, March 15 at 12 p.m. at Reis Tennis Center. The Red Storm were ranked No. 74 in last week's ITA Team rankings.

The Big Red enters the week ranked No. 37 nationally with a 9-5 record - all five of its losses have com to teams in the top 40 of the ITA rankings. The Big Red owns four wins over top 75 squads - No. 30 Penn, No. 44 Purdue, No. 47 Michigan State and No. 66 Old Dominion among its nine triumphs. Big Red head coach Silviu Tanasiou has a 179-103 record in his 14 seasons on the sidelines for the Big Red. Senior All-American Radu Papoe is 16-6 on the season to lead Cornell's singles lineup at No. 1, with Adit Sinha going 13-7 while playing in the top three spots on the ladder.

The Red Storm are 14-1 in dual meets this season with their only loss coming in their last match a 4-0 defeat at No. 8 Arizona after beginning the season 14-0. Max Amling is 8-3 at No. 1 singles, with Ignacio Vinas (8-1) and Ryota Kaenda (10-1) off to great starts in the middle of the lineup. Sixth-year head coach Dillon Pottish's squad has a Wednesday date at home against Hofstra prior to heading to Ithaca.
