PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Cornell men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set to compete at the NCAA Zone Championships. Competition is slated to begin on Monday, March 10 and conclude on Wednesday, March 12 at Rutgers Aquatic Center.
For the women's side,
Michael Ross, the Richard W. Gilbert Diving Coach for Cornell, spoke highly of Big Red diver
Morgan Ogata ahead of the Zone Championships.
"Morgan is our top point scorer for the Big Red Diving team goes into this zone meet for the second time, now as a sophomore. At this meet, she will finish off a strong sophomore season consistently finishing at the top of the Big Red program. Her strength and consistency have come a long way this year and along with the experience she brings from last year's performance at this competition, I am excited to see what she can do. She has become a leader on this team, representing the Big Red not only in top performances, but with her positivity and experience.", Ross said.
As for the men's team, freshman diver Max-Reis Trovillion was at the top of the radar for
Michael Ross.
"Max brings his explosive speed and power to the NCAA stage this week following a strong Ivy League performance last week. Notably, he finished 10th on the 1m springboard at Ivy's and hopes to improve upon that with some increased degree of difficulty at this meet. His dedication to constant improvement in the pool, in the weight room and in the classroom represents the epitome of an Ivy League student athlete. He came in as a strong diver this fall and has made huge strides this season with technique and strength. I look forward to see what Max can accomplish not only this week but in the next few years.", Coach Ross added.
