ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's polo team earned a spot in the USPA D2 National Championship match on the strength of its 15-9 victory over Kentucky on Friday morning at Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red will face New Hampshire on Sunday for the coveted national title at 9:30 a.m.
The Big Red used a balanced attack to slowly pull away from the Wildcats, ultimately using a 5-1 third chukker advantage to improve to 3-0 this season against Kentucky.
Lara Chong scored five times in the first half, while both
Ava Ramachandran and
Naomi Marlough posted four goals apiece after halftime. Marlough scored five goals total.
Cornell, who has won 15 USPA national titles and has now reached the finals 34 times, improved to 14-5 with its fourth consecutive win.
