Papoe Unanimous First-Team Selection Leads Five Cornell Picks on All-Ivy Team

| By:
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior Radu Papoe was named a unanimous first-team selection for the third time to lead five Big Red mentions on the 2025 All-Ivy League men's tennis team. The conference announced the teams on Thursday following a vote by the league's eight head coaches.

The senior was joined as All-Ivy selections in singles by senior Adit Sinha on the second team. In doubles, sophomore Eric Verdes and freshman Rushil Khosla were second-team selections and the tandems of Sinha and senior Jack McCarthy and Papoe and senior Nathan Mao were honorable mention picks.

Papoe, ranked No. 54 in the latest ITA singles rankings, is the first Cornell player in school history to earn first-team All-Ivy honors three times. Papoe sports a 20-8 record at No. 1 singles, including a 4-2 mark against Ivy League opponents. He reached the NCAA singles championship for the second time, advancing to the second round in the fall. The school's first-ever All-American in the sport and the 2024 Ivy League Player of the Year has four wins over ranked foes this season and is now 74-22 in singles play during his four-year career for the Big Red.

Papoe was not the only singles player to capture All-Ivy honors, as Sinha was a second-team pick for the second straight year. Ranked No. 109 in the ITA, Sinha has an 18-8 record while playing primarily at the second spot in the order. The senior was 4-1 in conference action with a pair of ranked wins. Sinha is 60-27 in his singles career for the Big Red.

The first-time tandem of Verdes and Khosla has been ranked at various points during the season and earned a spot at the NCAA doubles championships this past fall. The duo is 16-9 while playing at the top spot in the lineup, going 4-2 in league play with two victories over ranked foes.

Both Sinha and Papoe were also honorable mention doubles picks with their teams. Sinha combined with classmate McCarthy to go 9-3 with a perfect 5-0 record at No. 3. The team won its last five contests, including victories that helped claim wins over ranked teams Yale, Princeton, Penn and Dartmouth. Papoe and Mao were 8-5 in doubles, including 4-2 in Ivy play from No. 2. The team won a ranked matchup at No. 14 Baylor in a narrow 4-3 team loss.

The Big Red will find out about its NCAA Tournament hopes when the draw is announced on Monday, April 28 at 5 p.m., with the tournament beginning on the weekend of May 2. The postseason will be hosted at the campuses of the top 16 teams in the nation.
