ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell seniors
Rory Guilday and
CJ Kirst took home the Charles H. Moore Outstanding Senior Varsity Athlete Award during the school's annual Senior Toast last week.
Sammie Engel and
Sebastian Wolff earned the Ronald P. Lynch Senior Spirit Award, given to student-athletes whose leadership on and off the field model the ideals of the Big Red athletics department.
Lucy Dwyer and
Derek Amicon were recognized with the Mario St. George Boiardi '04 Leadership Award for embodying leadership, athleticism and a strong work ethic, while
Maddie Leroy,
Anthea Spirko,
Alioune Ka and
Michael Long shared the Kraig H. Kayser MBA '84 Big Red Athletics Inspiration Award, given when a student-athlete's accomplishments on and off the field inspire not only his or her teammates and coaches, but also his or her fellow classmates, professors and the entire Cornell University family.

Rory Guilday, Women's Ice Hockey
• Two-year team captain
• Three-time All Ivy, including first-team honors each of the past two seasons
• Two-team ECAC Hockey award winner
• Appeared in 106 games, registering 19 goals and 33 assists, including five game-winners as a defender.
• Twice played for Team USA at the World Championships for Team USA, winning a gold and silver medal.
Helped lead team to a pair of Ivy titles, an ECAC Hockey regular season and tournament title, two NCAA Tournament appearances and a spot in the Frozen Four in 2025.
CJ Kirst, Men's Lacrosse
• Two-time Tewaaraton Trophy finalist (2023, 2025)
• NCAA Division I Men's lacrosse all-time leading goal scorer (239 and counting)
• Four-time All-American, including three-time first-team selection (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025)
• Two-time Ivy League Player of the Year (2023, 2025)
• Two-year team captain
• No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) College Draft
• Led team to four Ivy titles, three NCAA Tournament appearances, a pair of Final Fours and a spot in the 2022 NCAA final

• Team captain as a senior, elected by her teammates for her unwavering support, selflessness, and unshakable commitment to the team
• Natural mentor, especially to the younger players
• Played in 22 career games with five goals and four assists for nine points
• IWLCA Scholastic All-American
Derek Amicon, Men's Track & Field
• As a competitor in XC, went from not being in the top 12 as a freshman, to being the team's highest XC regional finisher as a senior
• First-team All-Ivy in XC and was an NCAA qualifier who finished only six seconds (over 10k, so 1 sec per mile) from earning Cornell's first men's All-American Award since 2004
• On the track, went from not making the Heps team as a freshman to breaking school records in the 1k, 5k, DMR and being a two-time NCAA first round qualifier in the steeplechase

• Helped run Cornell's national women in sport day program
• Led fundraiser for the Ovid community after a devastating downtown fire
• 2024 team captain, helped VB to its first-ever Ivy Tournament appearance
• Academic All-Ivy League
Sebastian Wolff, Men's Swimming & Diving
• Two-time team captain
• Documented his time on the team through vlogs that have become a resource for recruits looking at Cornell swimming and diving.
• His booming voice can be clearly heard across any pool deck, and his trademark cheer "Can I get a CU" was so catchy, competitors from Yale joined in at the Ivy conference meet.
• Was a school record holder in both the 100 free and 200 IM and currently holds school records in the 200 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay.

Maddie Leroy, Women's Soccer
• Three-year team captain
• Played in 31 career games with three goals, each of which earned the Big Red a point
• Exemplified organizational leadership, while also excelling in performance, and locker room leadership

Anthea Spirko, Women's Gymnastics
• Gymnastics East Conference Woman of the Year honoree in 2025.
• Was forced to medically retire her sophomore season.
• Spent her final two and a half years
• Member of the 400 Club.
• As a sophomore, joined GoBabyGo, a national program that provides children with mobility impairments a means to explore the world independently. She designed and built a custom electric car for a young girl with mobility challenges. This passion for assisting technology led her to the Neuromuscular Rehabilitation lab, where she worked on developing prosthetic and exoskeleton devices. Anthea will be pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering to continue developing assistive technology for amputee patients and people with neurological disorders.
Alioune Ka, Men's Soccer
• Helped guide the team to two NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching the round of 16 and the round of 32 in those years.
• Missed half of both his sophomore and junior seasons due to injury, but returned to serve as team captain in 2024, earning first-team All-Ivy and first-team all-region honors.
• Was also selected 36th overall in the MLS Superdraft by Nashville FC.
• Will graduate with a degree in Biological Engineering before he moves on to play professional soccer.
Michael Long, Men's Lacrosse
• Two-time All-American
• Three-time team captain
• Carried the Hard Hat
• Ranks among Cornell lacrosse's all-time leaders in goals, assists and points
• Ranks third among all active NCAA players in career assists (122)
• Has helped the Big Red to a 55-15 record during his career, including 36-10 as a captain.
• Been a part of four Ivy championship teams, three NCAA Tournament qualifiers, two teams to reach the Final Four and the 2022 NCAA runner-up.
• First-ever sixth-year player in Cornell athletics history, missing a year and a half due to COVID (5-0 that season, #2 in the country) and another season due to injury.
