CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –Cornell softball (16-22, 6-15 IVY) concludes its season with an 8-1 loss to Harvard (26-11, 15-6 IVY) at Soldiers Field on Sunday afternoon.
Harvard struck first with a run in the bottom of the first. The Crimson held the Big Red to only two hits through the first four innings.
Cornell put their first run on the board in the fifth inning. Sydney Stapf started the inning off with a single down the left field line. Samantha Albert and Susanna Pate each copied her with singles of their own down the left side to load up the bases. Ella Harrod then sent a high fly ball into deep center field giving Stapf time to tag up and score on the sacrifice fly.
The Crimson extended their lead to 8-1 in the fifth then held Cornell for the final two innings to sweep the series.
