ITHACA, N.Y. — The 10th-ranked Cornell men's squash team opens Ivy League play this weekend with a pair of road matches, facing No. 9 Dartmouth on Saturday before taking on third-ranked Harvard on Sunday.
The Big Red (4-3) will look to snap a two-match losing streak as it heads to northern New England for its first pair of Ancient Eight competitions. Cornell enters the weekend having dropped three of its last five matches after opening the season with consecutive victories.
LAST TIME OUT
Cornell fell to No. 7 Drexel, 6-3, on Sunday at the Belkin Squash Courts in Ithaca. Junior
Syan Singh posted a straight-game victory at No. 1, while sophomore
Youssef Sarhan won in four games at No. 2. Sophomore
Vivaan Shah cruised in his match at No. 9, but Drexel claimed victories between position Nos. 3-8 to secure the win.
SCOUTING CORNELL
Sarhan and Shah are tied for the team lead in victories, with both players entering the weekend with 5-2 records.
Singh (4-1 overall) has been particularly dominant at the top of the ladder, posting a perfect 3-0 mark in matches played at the No. 1 position. All three of his victories at the No. 1 position have come in three games. Sarhan is also unbeaten in competition at No. 2, also bringing a 3-0 record into the weekend.
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
The Big Green (3-2, 0-1 Ivy) will be playing its second match in three days, as it faces No. 14 Amherst (5-1) this evening before hosting Cornell on Saturday. Dartmouth hasn't competed since posting a victory at No. 20 Colby, 8-1, on Dec. 6.
Brandon Wang and Warren Klein pace Dartmouth with 4-1 records, while six other Big Green players enter the weekend with 3-2 marks.
SCOUTING HARVARD
The Crimson (4-0, 1-0 Ivy) remain unbeaten on the season and will be competing for the first time since posting a 6-3 road victory over No. 4 Virginia on Dec. 5. Five Harvard players carry perfect 4-0 records into the weekend.
Harvard has been remarkably consistent this season, losing just four individual matches all year (32-4). Only top-ranked Penn (60-3) and No. 2 Trinity (42-3) have surrendered fewer matches among College Squash Association programs.
SERIES HISTORY
Cornell holds a 26-46 all-time record against Dartmouth. The Big Red's seven-match win streak against the Big Green was snapped last year in the consolation finals of the CSA National Team Championships in Philadelphia on March 8, 2025. Prior to Cornell's winning streak, Dartmouth had won seven consecutive matches between Feb. 1, 2015, and Feb. 1, 2020.
Harvard has dominated the all-time series, posting a 56-2 record against Cornell, including victories in each of the last 16 meetings. The Crimson last fell to the Big Red in Ithaca, 7-2, on Dec. 4, 2010. Harvard won last season's meeting at the Belkin Squash Courts, 7-2, on Jan. 12, 2025.
