#10 Men's Squash Shut Out By #3 Harvard to Conclude Weekend Road Trip

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 10th-ranked Cornell men's squash team was shut out 9-0 by third-ranked Harvard on Sunday afternoon at the Murr Center Squash Courts.

Cornell (4-5, 0-2 Ivy League), which suffered its fourth straight loss, struggled to find its rhythm against a dominant Harvard squad that improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Crimson posted straight-game sweeps in five of the nine positions, though several matches featured competitive moments from the Big Red.

At the top of the ladder, junior Syan Singh fell to David Costales in four games after taking the opening frame 11-6. It was Singh's first loss in a match played at the No. 1 position this season. Freshman Aly Ezzat also claimed a game at the No. 2 position before falling to Denis Gilveskiy, while fellow freshman Ethan Jain pushed Segev Rome to four games at No. 8.

The closest match of the afternoon came at No. 6, where sophomore Roman Bicknell battled Alexander Broadbridge through an extended first game before ultimately falling 14-12, 11-3, 11-6.

UP NEXT
The Big Red will look to regroup as select players will compete in the CSA National Collegiate Individual Championships next weekend in New York City. The tournament begins Friday, Jan. 23, at Open Squash: FiDi, before the semifinals and finals take place at Grand Central Terminal's Tournament of Champions Glass Court on Jan. 26-27.

Cornell returns to team action on Friday, Jan. 30, when it hosts No. 8 Princeton at the Belkin Squash Courts at noon.
