NEW YORK — Members of the Cornell's men's squash team faced a challenging second day at the CSA Individual Championships held Saturday afternoon at Open Squash - FiDi, with all four Big Red competitors losing their respective quarterfinal matches to end their individual tournament runs.
In the Men's Plate Pool B quarterfinals, freshman
Aly Ezzat battled Columbia's Ahmad Haq in a hard-fought four-game match. Ezzat claimed the opening game 11-7, but Haq responded by taking the next three games 11-9, 15-13, and 11-6 to advance.
The Men's Plate Pool C quarterfinals saw Cornell junior
Syan Singh and freshman
Edward Thng both defaulted their respective matches against Dartmouth's Wei Yan Tho and MIT's Philip Hyun Su Price.
In the Men's Consolation Pool D quarterfinals, sophomore
Youssef Sarhan was swept by Princeton's Federico Sosa in straight games, 11-3, 11-3, 11-6.
With the individual championships now complete for Cornell, the 10th-ranked Big Red will shift its focus back to team competition. Cornell will return to action on Friday, Jan. 30, when it hosts No. 8 Princeton at the Belkin Squash Courts. Match action will begin at noon and will be streamed live for free on Stretch Internet.
