#10 Men's Squash Swept by #3 Penn

ITHACA, N.Y. — The 10th-ranked Cornell men's squash team dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 3 Penn on Saturday afternoon at the Belkin Squash Courts.

Penn improved to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in Ivy League play, earning straight-game victories at eight positions and a four-game win at No. 3. Cornell fell to 4-6 overall and 0-3 in conference action.

At the top of the lineup, Omar Hafez secured a three-game victory over Syan Singh at No. 1. Salman Khalil followed with a straight-game win against Youssef Sarhan at No. 2.

The closest match of the day came at No. 3, where Marwan Abdelsalam defeated freshman Aly Ezzat in four games. Abdelsalam edged Ezzat 15-13 in the opening game before closing out the match with 12-10 wins in the fourth.

Penn also recorded three-game victories from Alexander Dartnell (No. 4), Rustin Wiser (No. 5), Gregory Malsang (No. 6), Rehan Luthra (No. 7), Varun Chitturi (No. 8), and Hao Cui (No. 9).

No. 4: Alexander Dartnell (Penn) def. Arnav Tevatia, 11-7, 11-3, 11-3.
No. 5: Rustin Wiser (Penn) def. Roman Bicknell, 11-9, 11-4, 11-6.
No. 6: Gregory Malsang (Penn) def. Ethan Jain, 11-5, 11-3, 11-2.
No. 7: Rehan Luthra (Penn) def. Vedant Chheda, 11-6, 11-0, 11-8.
No. 8: Varun Chitturi (Penn) def. Grant Roshkoff, 11-2, 11-4, 11-5.
No. 9: Hao Cui (Penn) def. Sebastian Dobron, 11-2, 11-2, 11-1.

UP NEXT
Cornell travels to New York City next weekend to face No. 7 Columbia (4-3, 1-2 Ivy). Match action is scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday, Feb. 7.
