ITHACA, N.Y. – Five members of the Cornell football team have been recognized by College Sports Communicators (CSC) as Academic All-District selections, the organization announced Tuesday.
Seniors
James Reinbold and
Kevin Ma, along with juniors
Brendan Lee and
Matt Pante, and sophomore
Cole Bennett, earned the honor.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and compete in at least 90 percent of their team's games or start in at least 66 percent of contests.
Both Reinbold and Ma were All-Ivy selections, with Ma also earning Academic All-Ivy honors, while Reinbold was a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, college football's premier academic award, given to the nation's top scholar-athlete for exceptional performance in academics, on the field of play, and in leadership.
Reinbold tallied 45 total tackles, including a season-best seven in the season finale against Columbia, while leading Cornell with 6.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He also recorded eight quarterback hurries, the most-ever by a Big Red defender since tracking hurries began in 1999. He recovered a fumble during the season.
Ma started all 10 games and helped the Big Red achieve the fourth-best passing offense (221.7 yards per game) and fourth-best rushing offense (145.3 yards per game) in the Ivy League. Cornell also posted the conference's second-best red zone offense, converting 76 percent of its opportunities inside the 20-yard line.
Lee played in all 10 games for the Big Red in 2025, hauling in 31 receptions, third best on the team, for a total of 312 yards and one score.
Pante was a rotational player on the offensive line for Cornell, appearing in nine games for the Big Red and helping the offense to the fourth-best passing offense and fourth-best rushing offense in the Ivy League.
Bennett played in eight games as a member of the defensive line, recording seven tackles, including five solo tackles, while helping Cornell to the second-best first down defense in the nation, as well as the third-best third down defense in the Ivy League and fifth-best scoring defense in the conference.
Academic All-District honorees are nominated by their institutions' sports information directors and selected by CSC. Student-athletes chosen to the Academic All-District teams become eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
Cornell completed the 2025 season with a 4-6 overall record and 3-4 mark in Ivy League play.
