ITHACA, N.Y. — Senior captain Vince Cornella was named Ivy League Wrestler of the Week following a dominant performance at the Southern Scuffle this weekend in Chattanooga, Tennessee, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Cornella captured the 141-pound title, powering through a stacked bracket with authority and precision. The honor marks the fourth Ivy League weekly award earned by the Big Red this season as the team continues to build momentum early in the year.
Ranked No. 13 nationally, Cornella capped his weekend with a decisive 7–2 decision over No. 5 CJ Composto of Penn in the finals. He advanced to the championship bout after defeating No. 14 Tom Crook of Virginia Tech, 7–3, in the semifinals.

Cornella's path to the title featured a series of commanding victories, including a 15–0 technical fall over Maryland's Dario Lemus in the quarterfinals, a 14–3 major decision against Chattanooga's Hunter Mason in the round of 16, and a 7–4 decision over Army's Conor Collins in the round of 32.

"Vince did a great job this weekend," shared The David Dunlop '59 Head Coach of Wrestling Mike Grey. "He showed great poise thought out the tournament. I'm excited to see him build upon this performance as we move into the dual meet portion of our schedule."
A senior leader for the Big Red, Cornella's performance at the Southern Scuffle showcased both his experience and consistency against elite national competition.

Big Red wrestling returns to action this Saturday, January 10, as the squad will split to travel to both Lehigh University and Bucknell.
