ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell women's cross country senior Maisie McManus was named to the Academic All-Ivy team, the Ivy League announced Wednesday.
The senior was nominated by Cornell's coaches for the honor, which recognizes student-athletes who excel in competition and in the classroom. As a global and public health major, McManus balances her coursework with a full schedule of training and racing.
On the course, McManus was Cornell's top finisher at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Oct. 31 at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass. She placed 21st in the 6-kilometer race in 21:12.0 and led the Big Red, which scored 206 points in the eight-team field.
"Maisie ran steady and composed in a race that was frantic from the start," said the Alan B. '53 and Elizabeth Heekin Harris Head Coach Mike Henderson.
With the cross country season coming to a close, McManus and the Big Red now look ahead to the indoor track season.
