PRINCETON, N.J. - The Cornell men's swimming and diving team gets set to compete at the 2026 Ivy League Championships. The four-day meet is slated to begin on Wednesday, February 25th, and conclude on Saturday, February 28th at DeNunzio Pool.

Wes Newman '09, the Philip H. Bartels '71 Head Coach of Men's Swimming, feels confident that the preparation and attention to detail that his team showed during the season will translate to success this week during the Ivy Championships. "All season we have been fine-tuning our skills and details to be ready for Ivies. We have had some great battles in the dual meet season, and our guys showed toughness and grit, which will help as we compete through four days at Ivies", he mentioned.

The Big Red will look to build on it's season, as well as it's fifth place 2025 Ivy League Championships finish from last season. "We looking to build off of our dual meet season. We felt good about winning three league meets this season, and know that Ivies will be a battel between us and about 4 other teams. The preliminary rounds will be critical to ensure we qualify for finals to score points at night. We're excited about some solid relay performances too, and are looking to continue to fight for podium finishes", Newman added.

Ubertalli returns, having claimed three gold medals at last year's championships. He was the top finisher in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke, along with leading the 400-yard medley relay group to a golden finish. "On an individual level, we speak to all our athletes about reaching personal bests.  If we each improve a little, then collectively we become more competitive and reach our team goals. We see more finalists, as well as potential NCAA qualifiers", Newman concluded with.
