ITHACA, N.Y. — The 10th-ranked Cornell men's squash team will look to snap a six-match losing streak when it travels to New York City to take on seventh-ranked Columbia on Saturday at noon. Matches will be held at the SL Green StreetSquash Center and streamed live on Stretch Internet.
The Big Red (4-7, 0-4 Ivy League) have struggled recently, winning just five games during its current skid. Cornell dropped a pair of matches last weekend, falling 7-2 to No. 8 Princeton and 9-0 to No. 3 Penn at the Belkin Squash Courts. Sophomore
Youssef Sarhan and junior
Arnav Tevatia provided the only wins against the Tigers.
Sarhan and freshman
Vivaan Shah pace Cornell with matching 6-4 records in dual matches, while
Syan Singh has posted a 5-4 mark that includes a 4-3 record when playing at the No. 1 position.
Columbia (4-4, 1-3 Ivy) is also coming off losses to Penn and Princeton last weekend by 6-3 and 7-2 scores, respectively. Ahmad Haq leads the Lions with a 7-1 record, followed closely in the win column by Paarth Ambani (6-1) and Imad Athar (6-2).
The Lions hold an 11-10 advantage in the all-time series and have won the last three meetings, including a 7-2 victory at last year's CSA National Championships. Cornell hasn't defeated Columbia since an 8-1 home win on Feb. 4, 2023, and last won in New York on Dec. 5, 2021, by a narrow 5-4 margin.
