ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's polo team raced out to a 9-2 lead in the first half and cruised to a 20-7 victory over Marlan Farms on Friday evening at Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red improved to 11-3 overall and 8-1 at home with the victory.
The Big Red scored six times in the first chukker and then outscored the visitors 5-1 in the third to all but wrap up the contest.
Lara Chong tallied eight times, including four times in the third, with
Naomi Marlough scoring five times and
Samantha Iahn tallying six goals.
Eva Scott came off the bench to tally two in the fourth chukker to wrap up the scoring.
"Our women played their best team polo of the year in tonight's game leading up to D1 Nationals this coming week," We're excited to face USC Aiken in the semifinals in Cornell's quest for a 17th National Championship."
The Big Red will face Aiken in the semifinals on Thursday, March 19 at 1 p.m. CT in Oak Point, Texas.
