KINGSTON, N.Y. — The Cornell men's golf team finished tied for ninth at the Roar-EE Invitational on Saturday, posting a two-round total of 580 (+4) at Wiltwyck Golf Club.
The Big Red shot a 293 (+5) in the opening round before rebounding with a 287 (-1) in round two, finishing in a three-way tie for ninth with Siena and Fordham in the 15-team field on the par-72, 6,877-yard layout.
Fairfield won the team title at 561 (-15), with Columbia and Iona tying for second at 567 (-9).
Tyler Debusschere paced Cornell individually, tying for 24th at 145 (+1) after rounds of 74 and 71. His second-round 71, one under par, the junior's second round under par this season.
TJ Betlow,
Shep Davis and
Adithya Venkataraghavan each tied for 42nd at 147 (+3). Betlow posted rounds of 77 and 70, with his closing 70 the best single round among Cornell's scorers and a career-low for the sophomore. Davis carded a 74 and 73, while Venkataraghavan shot 71 in round one before a 76 in round two.
Weston Warden also tied for 42nd at 147, shooting 74-73.
Javier Benerofe competed as an individual, tying for 63rd at 150 (+6) with rounds of 77 and 73.
Fairfield's Rasmus Ditzinger claimed medalist honors at 133 (-11) after rounds of 68 and 65.
