Coleman Wins Triple Jump as Cornell Closes Larry Ellis Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. — Cornell wrapped up competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday highlighted by a victory from Kameron Coleman.

In the shot put, Cornell placed four athletes in the top 20, led by sophomore Peter Northrup and freshman Joe Seib, who each recorded throws of 17.15m to finish fifth and sixth, respectively. Senior Noah Harman followed in ninth at 16.52m, while junior Nicholas Frattina placed 18th with a throw of 15.75m.

In the field, Kameron Coleman led the way with a first-place finish in the triple jump, winning the event with a leap of 15.02m into a slight headwind. Junior Desmond Whitley joined him on the podium, placing third at 14.59m.

On the track, Cornell saw strong relay performances, including a third-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay. The quartet of Garrett Brennan, Ricardo Lagares Jr., Ryder King and Panashe Nhenga crossed in 40.6. The 4x400-meter relay team of Brennan, Jason Meza, Seamus Finn and Michael Mazero also placed third, finishing in 3:13.38.

Individually, Ryder King turned in a standout performance in the 110-meter hurdles, placing second in 14.07. Nhenga added a seventh-place finish in the 100 meters in 10.58, while Lagares Jr. placed 13th in the same event in 10.75 and later took ninth in the 200 meters crossing the finish in 21.79.

In the 400 meters, Seamus Finn led Cornell with a 14th-place finish in 49.05, followed closely by Mazero who took 20th in 49.21, Adam Kaufman who took 26th in 49.65, Neil Chowdhurry who took 27th in 49.71 and Tyler Tisinger who took 35th in 50.85. Ryan Johnson added a 19th-place finish in the 800 meters, finishing in 1:55.72.

Cornell returns to Princeton in two weeks for the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for May 16-17.
