ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell women's soccer head coach
Rob Ferguson announced Thursday afternoon (July 9) the seven student-athletes joining the Big Red program for the 2026 season.
The incoming student-athletes consist of two goalkeepers,
Ellie Gudusky and
Sofia Kerrigan; two defenders,
Camryn Savig and
Ella Pfeiffer; and three forwards,
Sofía Menéndez,
Dylan Steinberg, and
Hayes Wheeler. The group spans five states, with three student-athletes coming from California, two from Pennsylvania and Texas, and one apiece from Connecticut and Washington.
"We are thrilled to welcome our incoming class — it's always such an exciting moment," Ferguson said. "We added two goalkeepers, a position we approached with a very deliberate focus this cycle. They both handle and distribute the ball well, and importantly, they have a high floor and a high ceiling because of their mentality and the way they approach training.
"In the back line, we have an excellent mix of athleticism and technical quality in both Camryn and Ella. They come from high-level development environments out West. Camryn brings all the traits of a strong, ball-playing central defender, while Ella offers excellent speed, 1v1 defending, and attacking quality from outside back.
"Up front, we're adding three players with three very different profiles. Dylan is a goal-scoring, quick, tricky left-footed player who's dynamic and has a real eye for making things happen in the final third. Hayes is a strong, physical forward who holds the ball up well, brings others into play, and can also threaten in behind — she strikes the ball extremely well. Sofía brings international flair, having grown up playing in Madrid; she combines technical quality with the ability to separate from defenders and the vision to create something special on the ball."
