ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell softball team will welcome five newcomers for the upcoming 2027 campaign. The freshmen will help Cornell in its quest for the program's first Ivy League title since 2010. 

Biographies for each of the incoming players are below:

Chloe Gonzales
Infield • Freshman • 5-11 • Yuba City, Calif. (Yuba City HS)
Earned first-team all-league honors in 2025 and 2026 at Yuba City HS… named Foothill Valley League Offensive MVP in 2025… earned Yuba City HS Female Athlete of the Year in 2026… also competed in soccer and volleyball, earning first-team all-league honors as a midfielder on the soccer team in 2024.
 
Gwyn Katterhenry
Pitcher • Freshman • 5-10 • Houston, Texas (Stratford HS)
Two-time District 17-6A Pitcher of the Year (2025, 2026) at Stratford HS… earned four consecutive first-team all-district honors from 2023-26… two-time captain… named team MVP in 2024… a four-time academic all-district honoree and THSCA Academic All-State selection in 2026… played club for Illusions Gold Elite 18U Plocheck/Sessum, earning two Alliance All-Tournament team selections in 2025 and recognition as a Triple Crown All-Academic and All-Academic All-Star selectee.
 
Addie Layous
Outfield • Freshman • 5-5 • Danville, Calif. (San Ramon Valley HS)
Earned first-team all-league honors in the East Bay Athletic League in 2024, 2025 and 2026 at San Ramon Valley HS… named EBAL honorable mention in 2023… team captain as a senior… helped lead the team to the North Coast Section Division I championship and EBAL title in 2026 and an EBAL championship in 2023… named the team's Offensive Player of the Year three consecutive years (2024, 2025, 2026)… earned first-team all-state honors for the class of 2026 by Cal Hi Sports in 2024… named first-team All-Northern California and first-team All-Bay Area by West Coast Preps in 2024… earned West Coast Preps Player of the Week honors in 2024 and 2025… named 49ers Cal Hi Sports Player of the Week in 2026.

Named Region Pitcher of the Year and earned first-team all-state and first-team all-county honors in 2025-26 at North Gwinnet HS… selected to the Georgia Dugout All-State Game… earned Outstanding Female Senior Student Athlete of the Year… set the school record for stolen base percentage… helped lead the team to a region championship… named Region Player of the Year and earned second-team All-State, first-team All-County, and first-team All-Region Pitcher honors in 2023-24… selected to the Gwinnett County Super Six… helped the team to a region championship… earned Region Pitcher of the Year honors in 2022-23… named first-team All-County and All-County 7A North Region Pitcher… helped the team to a region championship and a third-place finish in the state… a four-time varsity letter winner and Scholar Athlete.

Catcher • Freshman • 5-7 • Santa Clarita, Calif. (Valencia HS)
Earned first-team Foothill League honors in 2024, 2025 and 2026 at Valencia HS… two-year team captain… helped lead the team to Foothill League championships in 2023 and 2024… CIF Ford Scholar Athlete of the Year as a senior… earned CIF Division III all-tournament honors in 2025… received Foothill League Honorable Mention in 2023… a four-time varsity letter winner and four-time scholar athlete… played club for Wildcats Weil, earning Extra Innings Softball All-American honors in 2024 and second-team Extra Innings Class of 2026 recognition in 2025… ranked sixth among catchers in the West by Extra Innings in 2025 and 26th nationally in 2022… participated in the P5 Futures Games in 2025 and the COS Sparkler Future Star Game in 2023… named a Colorado All-American in 2022… helped her club team finish as PGF 14U Platinum runner-up in 2022.
