Biography
Junior Season - 2008
Neilson appeared in all 15 games as a junior, earning the starting nod eight times and coming off the bench another seven. She scored her first career goal in the 3-2 loss at Colgate on Sept. 28, heading home a corner kick in the fifth minute.
Sophomore Season - 2007
Neilson appeared in 12 games as a sophomore for the Big Red, making seven starts in the midfield. She added four shots on the year, including two in her first start of the season on Sept. 23 in a 1-0 loss at Bucknell.
Freshman Season - 2006
Neilson saw time in eight games for the Big Red as a freshman, earning starts against Bucknell on Oct. 3 and again at Buffalo on Oct. 18.
At American Heritage
A three-sport athlete while at American Heritage School, Neilson lettered four times in soccer, cross country and track. A Class 3A state champion and national champion in 2004-05, Neilson’s high school team was district and regional champions twice and earned a runner-up finish in the state tournament her senior year. She was also a member of the Spanish Honor Society and the math club.
Personal
Kala Joanna Neilson is the daughter of Robert and Michaela Neilson and has a younger brother and sister. Neilson is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
