Senior Season - 2009
Bain appeared in all 17 matches as a senior, starting nine of the final 10 contests. He scored the game-winning goal in the Big Red's 3-1 victory over Colgate on Oct. 13, his only marker of the season. Bain made his first start of the season on Sept. 27 in the Big Red's 2-1 win against Long Island.

Junior Season - 2008
Bain was a key member of the midfield for the Big Red as a junior, earning the start in all 15 games he appeared in. Bain missed only the Big Red's win over Lafayette on Sept. 21 after being issued a red card in the loss to Albany on Sept. 17.

Sophomore Season - 2007
Bain appeared in 15 of the Big Red's games as a sophomore, making four appearances in the starting lineup. He opened the season in the starting lineup in three of the team's first four games, then came off the bench in 10 of the final 11.

Freshman Season - 2006
Bain had a solid freshman campaign, establishing himself as a regular contributor to the lineup. He appeared in 12 games, starting three times. In his first collegiate start, on Sept. 17 at Boston University, he scored his first career goal to give Cornell a tie against the 17th-ranked Terriers.

At The Wellington School
Bain was a four-time letter winner at The Wellington School. He was named to the all-district team in 2003 and 2005 and captained his team in both the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Bain was named the offensive MVP of his team in 2003 and was named team MVP in 2005. He was also a two-year starter  for the basketball team, playing point guard.

Personal
John Joseph Bain is the son of John and Marisa Bain and has three older brothers and three older sisters. He is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.
