At Cornell
Movassaghi appeared in 15 games as a junior, including starting in 10 of those contests. He picked up an assist in the Big Red's 2-1 win over Colgate on Sept. 19 at Berman Field. Movassaghi returned to his hometown of Ithaca for his sophomore season after spending his first year at American University. The midfielder stepped right into the flow of the offense, appearing in 10 games with eight starts. He picked up a pair of assists on the season, including on the season’s first goal, striking a corner kick that was finished by Kyle Lynch, and later tallying an assist on the game-winning goal against Yale on Oct. 13.

At Ithaca HS and American University
Movassaghi was a four-time letter winner for Ithaca HS. He was a two-time Metro/West all-conference first team selection and served as captain during his senior season. Movassaghi was also named to the NSCAA/Adidas all-state and all-region team in 2004. His club team, the Syracuse Blitz Santos won the New York West State Cup in 2002, 2005 and 2006. At American, he started 14 of 15 games, recording one assist as a freshman in 2005.    

Personal
Miyad Movassaghi is the son of Hormoz Movassaghi and Zhila Sadri and has a younger brother. He is a student in the College of Arts and Life Sciences.
