Sara Sanders Career Statistics

At Cornell
Senior (2010):
Sanders will serve as the team’s co-captain during the 2010 season.

Junior (2009): A stalwart on the Big Red defense, Sanders saw action in all 15 games, making 14 starts. She was an integral part of a defensive unit that allowed just 5.3 penalty corners per game, the best school average since the stat began to be recorded in 1998. Sanders finished the year with one goal, scoring the game-winner vs. Georgetown. Following the season, Sanders earned the program’s Team First Award.

Sophomore (2008): Sanders saw her role increase tremendously as a sophomore as she started all 16 games for the Big Red. A player with great defensive instincts, vision and game sense, she finished the year with three goals and two assists for eight points. She registered a career-high three points vs. Siena, with one goal and one assist.

Freshman (2007): Sanders saw action in eight games during her freshman season.

At Maine Endwell HS
Sanders was a four-time Section IV first-team all-star, a two-time all-state and regional All-America selection in 2005 and 2006, earning four varsity letters at the midfield/defense position for Maine Endwell HS. She helped the Spartans to the Class B state championship in 2004 and was a two-time recipient of the all-state award in 2005 and 2006. At the New York State Empire Games, Sanders won a gold medal in 2004 and silver medals in 2005 and 2006, serving as the Central team’s co-captain in 2006. She also won a silver medal with the USFHA National Futures team at the national championships. Sanders lettered five times in lacrosse, serving as the captain in 2006 and 2007. She helped the lacrosse team to a Sectional Championship in 2005 and was a Section IV first-team all-star in 2005 and 2006.

Personal
Sara Kathleen Sanders is the daughter of Greg and Lisa Sanders and has three sisters. Her twin sister, Stephanie, also plays on the Big Red field hockey team. She is enrolled in College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
