Samuel rode in seven shows with the Big Red, competing in both the Novice Fences and Intermediate Flat classes in 2008-09. Picking up seven top three finishes during the season, her third place finish at Hartwick on Mar. 7 earned her a spot at the Regional Championships in the Novice Fences class. At the Ivy League Championships, Samuel won her Intermediate Flat section, advancing to the championship round where another first place finish earned her the title of ivy individual champion. In her sophomore year, Samuel proved to be an invaluable member of the Big Red, competing in 11 shows including the IHSA National Championships. Samuel started her season off with a win in novice flat at the Tournament of Champions, her first of nine top-three finishes during the season. Her first-place finish in novice flat at the Cornell Fall Horse Show secured her a spot at the regional championships, where her winning streak continued, advancing her to the Zone Finals. There her impressive riding earned her a blue ribbon finish and qualified her to compete at the IHSA National competition where she finished 11th in the novice flat class.

Zoe Alexa Samuel is the daughter of Peter Samuel and Carol Wolfe. Samuel is enrolled in Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences.
