Biography

At Cornell
2007-08: Basting opened his second season with Cornell going 2-2 at the Brute Binghamton Open. He wrestled at both 149 and 157 pounds, while also competing at the Body Bar Invitational and Nittany Lion Open.

2006-07: Basting opened his rookie campaign going 4-1 at the UB Open to take third place at 157 pounds. At the New York State Championships, he pinned two opponents and with a 3-2 record took seventh place. Basting also wrestled for the Big Red at 165 pounds in two matches at the National Duals.

Prior to Cornell:
Basting, a six-time letter winner in wrestling, was a five-time North Dakota state place winner earning fourth, third, third, second, and first. With a career record of 231-47, Basting is a two-time Freestyle Cadet All-American at Cadet Nationals in Fargo.

Personal:
John C. Basting is the son of Frank and Karen Basting. He has three older brothers. Basting is enrolled in Cornell's School of Hotel Management.
