At Cornell
2007-08: Frey went 4-1 at the EIWA tournament to place third, earning an automatic bid to his second NCAA tournament. At nationals, Frey opened with a 17-1 tech fall in 1:46, and also earned bonus points pinning Germane Lindsey of Ohio in 22 seconds in the wrestlebacks. He notched a 2-2 record at the tournament. Frey had a 4-1 mark at the Reno Tournament of Champions to place second, and he also wrestled for the Big Red at the Body Bar Invitational, Southern Scuffle and the National Duals.
2006-07: Frey made his collegiate debut last season, after missing 2005-06 due to injury. Posting a 17-4 overall record, he was named the Ivy League’s Rookie of the Year. Frey first wrestled for the Big Red in December at the Southern Scuffle, where with five wins, he captured the crown at 133 pounds. The rookie placed second at the EIWA tournament to the defending NCAA champion, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, where he went 1-1. Frey opened his season posting 12 consecutive victories to be ranked among the top wrestlers in the country. He was named the team’s outstanding freshman.
Prior to Cornell
Frey, ranked the nation's top recruit at 130 pounds, won four letters at Blair Academy at 112 and 130 pounds. He was the member of four national championsip teams and was an individual national champion as a senior. He is a two-time national prep champion. Frey is a five-time freestyle and Greco-Roman All-American and in 2005, he was a freestyle and Greco-Roman national champion.
Personal
Adam Wesley Frey is the son of Jerry and Cynthia Frey and is studying Government in Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences. He has one younger brother.
