At Cornell
Junior (2008): As a junior, Berkey appeared in 40 games for the Big Red, mostly as a designated player. Her five home runs were fourth on the team, and her 27 RBI ranked fifth on the squad. Berkey had seven games where she had multiple RBI, and had at least one hit in 27 games. From March 17 to April 3, she safely hit in 10-straight games, picking up 14 hits and seven RBI in that span. Berkey also had a two-run, three-RBI performance against Columbia on April 20 to lead Cornell to a 16-1 win. She was named to the ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District I second team.

Sophomore (2007): Berkey played in 41 games for the Big Red her sophomore season. She earned a .318 batting average while slugging .617 which was good for second on the team. Berkey was third on the team in home runs sending seven over the fence during the season. She also led the team in doubles with 11. Berkey was the designated hitter for the Big Red in 33 games, and was also honorable mention Ivy Player of the Week on two occasions. With three hits in the Big Red’s March 3 win over Niagara, Berkey drove in four runs for the Big Red. 

Freshman (2006): Starting in 45 games for the Big Red, Berkey finished second on the team in hitting with a .323 batting average and in home runs with six. On April 12, Berkey was named to the weekly Ivy League honor roll. Notching eight multi-hit games, she also had four multi-run games against Niagara, St. Bonaventure, Harvard and Yale. Berkey went three for three against Binghamton on May 3. 

At Livingston
Berkey was a four-time letter winner in softball at Livingston HS, serving as captain during her senior year. She was a first-team All-Iron Hills Conference and All-Essex County selection. Berkey was given the Senior Softball Award, was an Essex County Scholar Athlete and was named Best Athlete in her senior class. She was also a New Jersey Women in Sports Day honoree. She was a three-time game MVP at the Pony New Jersey State championships and a two-time game MVP at the New Jersey Sharkfest Tournament. Berkey was also a four-time letter winner for Livingston's soccer team and a three-time letter winner for the basketball team and was named captain for both during her senior year. 

Personal
Jessica Ellyn Berkey is the daughter of Mitchell and Mara Berkey and has a younger brother. She is a student in Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
