At Cornell
Junior (2009): March had a strong campaign at second base, hitting .270 with six doubles, two home runs and 24 RBI in 52 contests with 48 starts. She also was fifth on the team with 38 runs scored and was second on the team with 15 walks and nine times hit by a pitch. March had 10 multi-hit games, including a three-hit effort in game two of a doubleheader at Dartmouth on April 5 that included a home run. She was 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBI in a win over Brown and scored three times vs. Penn. March had multiple hits in three straight games twice during the year, including a 4-for-6 doubleheader on April 11 against the Quakers. March posted a .377 on-base percentage and a .372 slugging percentage.
Sophomore (2008): Playing in 36 games, March logged most of her time at second base. She hit .316 for the season and recorded 10 multi-hit games. In an April 20 doubleheader against Columbia, March went five-for-eight, including two home runs in the first game, and scored five times to lead Cornell to the sweep. March also helped Cornell sweep Yale when she went three-for-six with a homer, three runs, and three RBI.
Freshman (2007): March played in 39 games for the Big Red during her freshman season. She proved her ability to be a utility player for Cornell spending time playing at second, third, shortstop and outfield. March launched her first career home run for the Big Red and recorded four RBI in Cornell’s 13-3 win over Yale. As a rookie, she also recorded three hits in Cornell’s 8-2 victory over Columbia. March also registered 46 putouts and 35 assists last season.
At John Jay HS
March was a three year starter at second base helping her team to make two appearances at the state final four. A three-time all-league selection and two-time all-section selection, she served as team captain her senior year. League champion in the triple jump, she also earned two varsity letters in indoor track once again earning league and county honors. The 2006 Female Athlete of the Year for John Jay High School, March also was a three-time letter winner in field hockey as an attacker. March was named a Poughkeepsie Journal's All-Star in all three sports. A four year scholar athlete, she was a member of the National Honor Society and was a College Board AP Scholar.
Personal
Devon Lyn March is the daughter of Glenn and Karen March and has a younger brother. Majoring in human biology, health, and society, she is enrolled in Cornell's College of Human Ecology.
