Biography

As a senior (2012)
Marx went 5-4 with an Ivy League-leading five saves, a mark that ranked eighth nationally. She posted a 3.40 ERA in 59.2 innings of work, striking out 41 hitters in 59.2 innings. She was 1-0 with all five saves in Ivy League play. Marx pitched in 26 contests, with six starts and a complete game shutout of Liberty. Marx saved both ends of a doubleheader sweep of Yale and also had saves in wins over Dartmouth, Columbia and Princeton. She struck out seven against Ithaca College and punched out six vs. Hartford. She scattered three hits in 4.1 innings of work against Hartford, striking out six without issuing a walk.

As a junior (2011)
Marx went 0-3 with a 7.15 ERA in 12 appearances, including three starts. She pitched a total of 15.2 innings, striking out nine. Marx struck out a season-best four in 3.0 innings of work against Bucknell

As a sophomore (2010)
Marx moved into the rotation due to injuries and had a solid sophomore season, going 11-3 with a 4.35 ERA in 23 contests, including 10 starts. Marx ranked second on the team in strikeouts (54) and innings pitched (72.1). She went 7-1 to close out the season and went 5-2 with a 3.72 ERA in Ivy contests. Marx struck out eight in five innings of work in a win at Brown while striking out five without a walk in wins over George Mason and Penn.

As a freshman (2009)
Marx was 6-2 with a 1.63 ERA in 16 appearances on the mound, including 11 starts. She hurled five complete games, including a pair of seven-inning victories. Marx struck out 26 and walked nine in 51.2 innings pitched, allowing opponents to hit just .244 against her. She pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and just one walk vs. Central Connecticut State and threw a five-hit shutout in an 11-0 triumph over Rhode Island. Marx struck out four in 5.0 innings in a win over Siena.

At Westview HS
Marx led her team to a CIF championship in 2006, and to league championships twice. The four-time letter winner was named the North County Times athlete of the week, and second-team as a pitcher. She was also named a San Diego Union Tribune Scholar Athlete her junior and senior seasons. Marx placed fifth at the 2006 16U Nationals with her travel team, and took third in 2004. At Westview HS, she also played basketball for two seasons. A member of the National Honor Society, Marx was also an AP Scholar.

Personal
Lauren Amy Marx is the daughter of Gary and Roberta Marx, and she has a younger sister. Marx is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
