Biography
At Cornell: After struggling mightily with low iron as a freshman, Levy has made consistent and remarkable improvement and now represents a possible Heps scoring threat as a middle distance runner. Confined mostly to prelim relay duty for his first few seasons, Levy produced occasional surprising performances which became more frequent the more he raced. As a junior, he delivered his most eye-opening race yet, a 1:50.5 split in the prelims of the IC4A 4x800m, and followed with a relaxed-looking 1:52.0 split to assume the lead in the final. Levy also slashed nearly five seconds off his 1,500m PR as a junior with a time of 3:53.50, and ran an unofficial 3:51.8 in a late-season intra-squad race. Now that he has shown he can be competitive at the collegiate level, Levy will be counted on as an 800m go-to man as a senior.
At Horace Greeley: Levy recorded a time of 4:17.44 for 1,600 meters as a junior before being hampered by injuries as a senior.
Personal: Andrew S. Levy is the son of Ross and Janet Levy, and he has an older brother and a younger sister, Alana, who competes for the Cornell women’s track and field team.
