Biography
At Cornell: Maduka had one of the most memorable seasons in Cornell Track and Field history as a junior. She reached the finals in the long jump at the United States Olympic Trials and was a two-time NCAA All-American, finishing 7th indoors and 10th outdoors in the long jump. Indoors, Maduka won three events at the Heptagonal conference championships (60m, long jump and triple jump) and was named meet MVP, her second consecutive honor, and set a school record in the 60m. Outdoors, she had another banner conference meet, winning four events (LJ, TJ, 200m, 4x100m) and finishing second (100m) in another and was again awarded the meet MVP honor. She won the ECAC long jump and finished second in the triple jump, leading Cornell to a third-place finish. At the NCAA regional meet, she finished third in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump. Maduka currently holds six varsity school records and has won thirteen Ivy League championships. She earned NCAA All-American status three times and has represented the United States internationally during the summer of 2008, winning the long jump at the NACAC meet in Mexico City with a personal best effort of 21-10 ¼.
At James Martin: Maduka was the Texas state triple jump champion as a senior at James Martin HS while placing in the long jump. The Martin HS scholar-athlete was also a McDonald’s All-America nominee in basketball.
Personal: Jeomi O. Maduka is the daughter of Charles and Gloria Maduka and she has two younger brothers, Kodi and Kesi, and two younger sisters, Sobie and Nakachi.
