At Cornell
Started the season with great expectations. McClain had a great pre-season as he entered the indoor season. He performed well, capturing 2nd place in the 500M at the HEPS Championships with a new Freshman School Record of 1:03.37. He was also a member of the Championship 4x400m. However, due to an injury-plagued outdoor season, McClain was not able to compete in his best event, the 400m intermediate hurdles. No one got to see his full potential in 2009 and the Big Red is looking forward to an extraordinary senior year where if he commits to what he is capable of he’ll be a force to be reckoned with. There was a lot of hype surrounding the arrival of McClain to the Cornell track program but the year was short circuited in many different ways.

As a senior, McClain just missed qualifying for the finals in the 400-meter dash at the Indoor Heps, taking ninth in the preliminaries with a time of 50.88 seconds. Outdoors, though, McClain did much better. He was part of two Cornell relays at the Penn Relays, winning a wheel in the 4x400 Heps relay and then placing sixth in the IC4A 4x400. In the 400 hurdles at the Outdoor Heps, McClain claimed the title to score 10 points for the Big Red. He as also the anchor leg of Cornell's winning 4x400. He scored three points for the BIg Red with a sixth-place finish at the Outdoor IC4As, and he earned a berth in the NCAA East Regionals in the 400 hurdles, where he took 17th. His otudoor best of 51.67 is the fifth-fastest time ever at the school.

Before Cornell
McClain was a state champion in the 300m hurdles and claimed a relay title in the 4x400m as a senior. He was also a First Coast All-Star in the 300m hurdles. McClain also played football for four seasons, winning a pair of state championships.

Kenneth Lerooy McClain is the son of Kenneth McClain and Jadene King and has two sisters. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
