At Cornell
Silas had an incredible first year for the Big Red, developing into one of the team's most dynamic hurdlers. In her freshman year indoor season she placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles at the Heptagonal Championships and ended the outdoor season with a huge personal best. Her sophomore year she placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at the outdoor Heptagonal Championships with another personal best. In her junior year, Silas excelled greatly in not only the hurdles but managed to also pick up another event, the 4x100 relay. She placed fourth in the hurdles with personal best of 14.07 outdoors and was the anchor leg in the 4x100 relay team that placed third. She also qualified for both indoor and outdoor ECAC championships. In addition to her accomplishment on the track, she was voted best hurdler (along with Molly Glantz) by her teammates in 2011.

Silas' senior year saw her just miss scoring at the Indoor Heps when she placed seventh in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.99 seconds. She was part of Cornell's shuttle hurdle relay team at the Penn Relays that finished in 59.17 seconds, the third-fastest time in school history. At the Outdoor Heps, Silas was 11th in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.98 seconds. She equalled her time of 8.73 seconds in the 60 hurdles indoors, a mark that remains fourth-best in school history.

At Glen Cove HS
Silas captained her indoor and outdoor high school team at Glen Cove, where she was a regular state qualifier for the New York State HS Championships in the hurdles. She was awarded her Principal's Cup for excellence in sport and academics. Silas has the best time for her high school in the 55mh, 100mh, and 400mh. She participated in the New York State Championships, earning sixth place her senior year.

Personal
Danielle Taylor Silas is the daughter of Rudolph and Wendy Silas and has a younger brother. She is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.
