At Cornell
A three-time USAG All-American and 2011 USAG national champion on beam, Standridge won Ivy Classic, ECAC and USAG titles on the event en route to earning a spot in the NCAA regionals. She scored a school-record 9.900 against Brown and at the USAG nationals. Those were two of seven individual scores of 9.8 or better during the season. Her average Regional Qualifying Score of 9.815 was also a school record. Standridge earned USAG All-America accolades on beam for the second straight year, posting five scores at 9.8 or better during the 2010 season. She also saw time in the lineup on floor. Standridge had a standout freshman campaign that culminated with All-America honors on beam and an Ivy Classic title on the event in 2009. Standridge finished second at the USAG Collegiate Nationals after posting a score of 9.800, one of 12 meets where she recorded a  score of 9.750 or better. Standridge won the Ivy Classic with a score of 9.775 and hit for third at the ECAC championships after securing a 9.800. Her 9.875 on the event on day one of the USAG meet helped Cornell into the final four, where the Big Red would eventually claim a share of its first-ever title. Standridge is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

In Secondary School
A graduate of Unionville HS, Standridge took second at the Delaware state meet and was an alternate to the Junior Olympic Nationals in 2008. She was a regional and national competitor, and in 2005 she placed second on beam at JO Nationals. In high school, Standridge maintained over a 4.0 grade point average all four years and received several Academic Achievement awards. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society.

Melanie Ann Standridge is the daughter of Thomas and Carmen Standridge and has a younger sister.
