Biography

At Cornell
2010-11
Smith opened the season with a pair of victories at the Binghamton Open at 141 pounds, including a decision over Justin Loudon of Lock Haven and a pin against Michael Impellizeri of Sacred Heart.  He also wrestled at the Body Bar Invitational.

2009-10
Smith went 3-4 as a freshman in 2010, including winning a pair of matches at the Binghamton Open to open the season. He also competed at the Body Bar Invitational.

2008-09
Did not compete.

Prior to Cornell
Smith won the Washington state championship at 125 pounds in 2008, and was the runner-up at 119 in 2007. He is a two-time district and regional champion with a 74-9 record as a junior and senior. Smith was a class officer, a two-time academic wrestling state honoree and an Eagle Scout.

Personal
Philip Robert Smith is the son of Gerald and Connie ’74 Smith, and he has two sisters. His sister, Lauren, is a junior at Cornell. Smith is enrolled in the School of Hotel Administration.
