Biography

At Cornell:
Playing last year primarily at No. 2-3 in her rookie season, Shivangi Paranjpe's key asset is her style of play, dropping and boasting well from anywhere on the court.  With a 8-6 record, she played her best match of the season at the CSA championships where she won in five sets against Stanford's No. 2 player, who she had previously been shut out by.  Finishing the season with a  CSA ranking of No. 20, Paranjpe's goal this year is to start the season strong and play consistently in order to come out on the winning end of the close matches.

Prior to Cornell:
Paranjpe represented India at the Asian Juniors in 2004 and 2006. She is currently ranked first in her state of Maharashtra and is ranked among the top four in India for girls under 19. In the GU 19 category, Paranjpe won several national events including the Maharashtra Open, the Western India CCL Open, Little Masters and the Otters Open. Paranjpe was the winner of the interschool championship for four consecutive years and reached the semifinals of the senior nationals by defeating India’s No. 3 player in the quarterfinals.
