Perilstein joined the sprint football team after spending his first two seasons as a backup on the varsity squad and the junior did not disappoint, earning a first-team All-CSFL nod following the season. Perilstein set the school record with a 49-yard field goal and he was among the most reliable kickers in the league, completing 8-of-13 field goals and all 12 extra point attempts. Perilstein also handled the punting duties for the Big Red and was exceptional in that role, punting 30 times for a total of 1,048 yards. He averaged 34.9 yards per punt, with a long of 71 yards. Throughout the course of the season, he had five punts fair caught, placed six punts inside the 20-yard line, booted three punts more than 50 yards and registered three touchbacks without having a single punt blocked. Following the season finale against Mansfield, Perilstein was named CSFL Special Teams Player of the Week after making a 42-yard field goal and connecting on all four extra points. He also had a punt land inside the 20-yard line.

At Harriton
An All League performer in football at Harriton HS, Perilstein also participated in soccer and lacrosse.  He was a two-year captain for his soccer team and received both All-League and All Main Line honors in 2005, 2006 and 2007.  That team won the district championship in 2007.  Perilstein also served as captain for his school's lacrosse team and was an All-League and All-Main Line recipient in that sport as well.

Alex D. Perilstein is the son of Ronald and Jayne Perilstein, and he has an older sister Julie, who is a graduate of Penn.
