2009-10 Men's Track and Field Roster
Biography
At Cornell
Already an accomplished runner on the conference level as a freshman, Hatch took another step up the league ranks as a sophomore, solidifying himself as a high-scoring threat in the middle distances. In cross-country, he got out of the gate well, using his trademark strong finish to grab fourth overall and third for Cornell against Army on the rain-soaked Moakley Course. An illness prior to the Notre Dame meet set him back, but he partially rebounded to run an 8k PR of 24:55 at Pre-Nationals, followed by a 25:38.2 at Heps. Hatch enjoyed his greatest success as a sophomore during the indoor season, highlighted by an excellent race to finish fourth in an extremely competitive Heps mile final with a PR of 4:09.12 on the flat Barton Hall track. He also contributed solid 1:52 splits in both the prelims and finals of the 4x800m at the indoor IC4As, the finals unit running 7:32.34, third on the all-time Cornell indoor list. Outdoors, Hatch ran a 1,500m personal best of 3:49.10 at Bucknell, performed excellently on the leadoff legs on both the Championship of America DMR and 4xMile at the Penn Relays, and made the IC4A final in the 1,500.
Before Cornell
As a junior, Hatch won the Illionis Class A state title in both cross country as well as the 800m. As a senior, he was runner-up in cross country and in the 1,600m. His track personal bests were 1:53 and 4:14.
