Kimple had a remarkable senior year, finishing sixth at the New York Federation cross-country meet, as his powerhouse Fayetteville-Manlius squad won the team title. He finished 27th at the Nike Team Nationals, helping his team to a third-place finish. His All-American track season as a senior was highlighted by winning the state title with a stellar 4:07.71 for 1,600 meters and running the fastest split for the F-M 4xmile unit, which clocked a time of 17:18.33 to win the national title at the Nike Outdoor Nationals with a meet record, the best high school time in 20 years and the eighth-best high school performance all-time. He also contributed a 3:01.2 leadoff 1,200 for his distance medley squad, which ran 10:04.39 for 2nd at the same championships.

Owen Ward Kimple is the son of James and Emily Kimple and has a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
