Newman earned three varsity letters at Dr. Phillips high school. He served as team captain and was given his team’s Best Sportsmanship award. Newman helped his team to a second place finish in the state finals in both 2004 and 2005.

Peter Roy Newman is the son of Roy Newman and he has one brother. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
