At New Trier High School
Messersmith rowed for four years at New Trier High School. She won a gold medal in the youth 8+ at the 2009 Scholastic National Championships and finished fourth at the USRowing Youth Nationals that same year. Messersmith also received a gold medal in the youth 2nd 8+ in 2008 and a gold medal in 2007 for the youth 8+ at the Scholastic National Championships. Messersmith was a USRowing 2008 Scholastic Honor Roll Honorable Mention and was captain of her team her senior year. Messersmith's 8+ had a 7th place finish at the Head of the Charles Regatta in 2008.

Personal
Molly Mae Messersmith is the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Messersmith. She is enrolled in the College of Architecture, Art and Planning.
