Biography
At Cornell
Melbye appeared in 11 shows with the Big Red, earning 10 top three finishes in the Intermediate class in 2008-09. A second place ride in Intermediate Flat at Skidmore on Feb. 28 earned her enough points to qualify for the regional championships. Melbye also qualified in Intermediate Fences in her very next show with a first place finish at Hartwick on March 7. Finishing second in Intermediate Flat at regionals, Melbye advanced to the Zone II Championship where she finished seventh overall. Having earned enough points to advance to Open Fences and Open Flat, Melbye rode in her new class at the Ivy League Championship where she finished fifth in Fences and seventh in Flat. Melbye started her collegiate career with a win in 2007-08, taking first in the intermediate flat class at the December Skidmore show. She continued to ride well in her rookie season, taking first in intermediate fences at the February Skidmore show, and riding to a pair of second place finishes in fences and flat at Hartwick. Melbye made an impressive showing riding for the Big Red at the Ivy League championships where she finished fourth in the intermediate fences championship class and took home the blue ribbon in the intermediate flat championship.
Personal
Georgina C. Melbye is the daughter of Richard Lindley and Kristin Melbye. She is enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
