Biography
At Cornell
Senior (2012): Barger was a crucial part of the Big Red defense during his last year, making 34 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack. Barger was named to the All-CSFL Second Team and also won the team's A.L. Morris Award for Dilligence.
Junior (2011): Barger had one interception and 20 return yards in his six games played. Barger finished eighth on the team with 29 tackles, including 19 solo tackles and 10 assisted. Barger also recorded a sack and had a team-high three fumble recoveries.
Sophomore (2010): Barger saw action in four games during his sophomore season. He finished the year with five tackles, four of which came in the season-opener at Mansfield. He also intercepted a pass in the Big Red’s final game of the year, also against the Mountaineers, which he returned 34 yards.
Freshman (2009): Barger saw action in all seven games during his rookie campaign. He finished the year with eight tackles, including one for a loss of 14 yards. He also registered two interceptions, returning them for a total of 43 yards, to go along with one fumble recovery, one sack and one blocked kick.
At Fayetteville-Manlius
An All-American in lacrosse at Fayetteville-Manlius HS, James Barger also lettered in football at the strong safety position for two years.
