As a Senior (2013)
Playing quarterback in all but one game for the Big Red during his senior season, Miller was 49.7 percent passing (75-151) for 702 yards with six touchdowns and averaged 117.0 yards per game. On the ground, he picked up 69 yards on 80 carries and tallied four touchdowns. He also caught four passes for a total of 12 yards. He finished as the team's leader in total offense with 771 yards, averaging 128.5 per game. For his career, Miller recorded 3,968 yards of total offense. Â He was named to the All-CSFL Second Team.Â
As a Junior (2012)
Miller was the Big Red's starting quarterback again in 2012, playing in all seven games and throwing all but two passes for the team during the year. Miller, named to the All-CSFL First Team, completed 50 percent of his passes for 1,446 yards. Included in that total was 10 touchdown passes, an average of 206.6 passing yards per game and an efficiency rating of 112.48. Miller also gained 54 rushing yards on the season.
As a Sophomore (2011)
The starting quarterback for all but one game -- he was out with a concussion in the loss to Post -- Miller was truly a valuable player for the Big Red. He completed 109 of 197 passes and threw just three interceptions compared to his 13 touchdowns. He averaged 234.8 passing yards per game and had an efficiency rating of 134.14. He also ran the ball 72 times, racking up four touchdowns and a long of 19 yards.
As a Freshman (2010)
Miller did a little bit of everything on offense during his rookie season. He saw action in all seven games and he accumulated 98 all-purpose yards. Under center, he went 15-for-35 for 202 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Miller also had 11 receptions for 89 yards and rushed the ball 38 times for eight yards. He threw for a long of 26 yards in the season opener at Mansfield and had an 18-yard reception the next weekend at Princeton.
Before Cornell
Miller was a standout athlete at Glen Rock high school, lettering three times each in football, baseball and basketball and helping all three teams reach the state playoffs. For his achievements, he was the runner-up for the 2010 NorthJerseySports.com Male Athlete of the Year award. In football, he saw action at wide receiver, defensive back and on special teams before playing quarterback during his senior season. That year, he accounted for at least five touchdowns in four different contests, threw for 18 touchdowns total, scored 12 more on the ground and amassed more than 3,000 total yards. In the opening game of the state tournament, he threw four touchdowns and ran for another two to lead Glen Rock to a 41-14 upset over top-seeded Lenape Valley. As a senior, Miller he was named first-team all-state Group II, Ridgewood News first-team all-suburban, WHGT 1500 AM first-team all-area, first team all-county and first-team all-league. He was also a three-time Metropolitan New York Football Writers Association Bergan County Player of the Week, a Newark Star Ledger All-Star Performer and an MSG Varsity Tri State Area Athlete of the Week. On the basketball court, Miller often covered the opposing team’s best player and helped Glen Rock to win its first state tournament game in over a decade. After the season, he was named all-area honorable mention. Miller also played shortstop and led the baseball team in batting average and runs scored, while finishing with 23 RBI. As a senior, he was named second-team all-state Group II, WGHT 1500 AM first-team all-area, first-team all-Bergen County and first-team all-league.
Personal
Brendan Flanagan Miller is the son of Kerry and Michael Miller and he has two younger brothers. His father, uncle Jeff and grandfather Howard all attended Cornell. Miller is enrolled in the School of Hotel Administration.
