At Cornell
Beaman spent his rookie season in the first freshmen boat that took third place at the 2011 Eastern Sprints.
At St. Ignatius Preparatory School
Beaman was a three-time letter winner at St. Ignatius Preparatory School and served as team captain during his senior season. During the 2009 season, he was the only junior on the varsity crew and in 2007 he helped his crew place second at Southwest Junior Rowing Championships.
Personal
Garrett Brandes Beaman is the son of Lindsay and Elizabeth Beaman and he has a younger sister. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
